very wide ratio gearbox

I am still researching my v8 gearbox problem and although I do not
think such a gearbox exists - is there any make of gearbox that might
be made to fit a rover v8 with a very low first gear 4 or 5 to 1 and a
top gear of .5 to 1. Maybe the gearing from one box can be swopped
over to make such a box - five speed or six speed.
Failing all this I have a firm who has offered to make the gears for
me providing
no difficult problems are encounted.

Why do you need such a wide ratio?
Can you change the rear axle gears to allow you to use less overdrive than
0.5?

The gearbox from a 4 wheel drive truck would have greater than your required
range with the use of the LO range. But it would not have 0.5 OD. It might
have 0.7 or even 0.63

The richmond gear 6 speed can go EIther 4.4 to 0.76 OR 3.01 to 0.52

That is likely to be the closest you are going to get.in a car performance
