Post subject: [928uk] "Driveshaft problems after replacing CV gaiter/boot"
Archived from groups: alt>autos>porsche928 (more info?)

I have just attempted a CV gaiter/boot replacement with the genuine
replacement parts -supposedly also fitting the 911 as it says on the kit - a
good tight fit too! Anyway. After removing the drivers side driveshaft as
per instructions, & removing the CV joint. It did come apart & lal the
balls etc. were cleaned & refitted correctly - I thought. But after
replacing everything & trying to refitt I have a problem...the CV joint
seems to be locked in-line & doesn't want to knuckle? If I manouver the
ring & joint internals it then will knuckle correctly? This concerns me!
Also the other end - gearbox end dowes the same & That hasn't been touched
or dissassembled in any way?

Has anyone any idea's what I may have done wrong????? Or what I can do to
correct this problem?
I need to replace the CV gaiter on the other side as well so I want to get
this one right first before attempting the other side.

ANy help woudl be appreciated.
THanks
Steve
