no speedometer

I have a 1989 olds cutlass cierra and the sservice engine light is on and
the speedometer does not work.
If I drive thruogh a puddle on the passenger side only the service engine
light goes out and the cruise control and speedometer starts to work until
it dries off and problem returns.
I have check several ground wires in that area and do not know where else
to look.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know Thanks

If it is digital and there is no cable from your speedometer to the tranny,
it is your computer gone bad. It stinks but a friend just called me to tell
me he replaced the computer and everything is back to working normally.

Go to www.car-part.com this will link you to virtually every junkyard in
the U.S. and some in Canada. This will also save you a ton of money. I
bought a brand new gas tank and a computer for an 85 Ford and it didn't
cost me 100.00. Good luck.
