knob on a manual trans , 3 series ?

Pull straight up, don't twist it. It takes about 90lb of force to
remove.

Aim the shifter into your chest, not your face, as you are pulling.

Removing console E36 - I need to replace the shifter for my '93 325I automatic. Any tips/ tricks for getting the center console out?

Removing the back seat in an E34 - I have a 1994 530i (E34 with M60 engine) and have not been able to figure out how to remove the back seat so I can access the battery. Can anybody help me with the procedure for this? The manual doesn't seem to be any help or I just didn't see the..

shift 2 -> 3rd slow when cold. (92 e32) - Fresh back from dealing with a blown headgasket; now my tranny is acting up. When the car is cold; (say 1st or 2nd shifts) going from 2nd to 3rd doesn't happen "correctly" -- it'll rev up to 3grand w/o romping on it... just putting along. on...

wires coming out of stick shift post - I originally thought one of my kids had wrapped a wire arount my stick shift, then I realized that the loose wires (about 6" on each side) were coming from the stick shift itself! Was somebody messing with my car? What do these wires do?
