Post subject: red tube/hose from dash What is it meant for?

There's a red tube/hose (small diameter) coming out of the dash, ends in
motorcompartiment. It is not connected to anything. It just hangs loose in
the engine compartiment. What is it meant for?

Check to see if there's a hose connected to the heater valve. That's at
the back of the engine and below the air cleaner housing.

The small red tube is only 3 mm in diameter.....
