Post subject: radio reset codes dont work for my 94, 940

my dealer gave me a 6 digit code for my 940 radio. i had disconnected the battery to charge it.
i did the 2 hour key on thing, stupid as it is. it went to code , put in the numbers , nothing. rPe or something like that .it is the original radio as far as i know. of course , the people at the dealership said that was strange for a 6 digit code , but looked it up twice.
can i disable that dam code or is it built into the radio? also tried the firat 4 , middle 4, last 4 numbers . dont even get an err , just that rPe .
tks for any input.
