If you are serious about power and doing it right, call Duttweiller
performance , I think they are in California.. Kenny is the Guru of V6 turbo
power, if he does not have something for you,he will at least send you in
the right direction...
I know a guy that has one of his Buick motors in his Vett.. the car is
insane...probably one of the coolest/fastest sleeper street cars I have ever
seen..
Walk softly...carry a huge turbo [and intercooler of course]..

LOL. If a quality part is made store-bought, you'd be crazy to pass
it by. That 'pipe-fitter' stuff gets pretty costly.

Good luck with your project. Make use of available V6 turbo stuff and
only use 321 stainless or 625 inconel on the hot side. You are very
fortunate, Buick and Chevy V6 turbo parts are available.

Yup ..

Big Yup ..

and

If welded properly 316L Stainless is fine, that is what I have on my twin
turbo 351W .
I helped a freind put a "cheap system" together, we used Fords stainless
steel 5.0 headers... they are not 321stainless for sure, and probably not
316L either... I would imagine they are the cheaper 400 series stuff ... but
they have weathered the last 7+ years including 3 trips from Toronto
Ontario to Florida and back ..with no problems.

You are very
 > fortunate, Buick and Chevy V6 turbo parts are available.

Maybe a GN turbo and modified headers would work.... I can not remember if
the new FB V6 has the same port pitch as the old Buick .. but I guess the
Cyclone/Typhoon headers may be a better pick ..
I am not much up on the GM parts interchangability but I agree with LS ..
use other parts where you can... fab is expensive.

But like I said, I would talk to Kenny Duttweiller .. he will point you in
the right direction for your project..as in , other people out your way ..
by the way,, you never did say what your goal is ... huge power or just a
bit of a kick ...
if you are only going for a minimal kick, like under 100hp then I would go
blower .. they are much simpler to install and remove when you want to sell
the car .
Oh ya, do not forget to factor in [ cost ] the upgraded fuel/management
system ..
Dave.

i hope to reach about 300hp-350hp... not huge power gains but enough to run
low 13's or high 12's in the 1/4... FFF makes a kit for my firebird as a
complete bolt-on for $3000, i thought about finding some used or cheaper
priced parts that he uses in the kit and just buying the pipes from him. i'm
not sure if he will sell just the pipes though. His kit is neat, instead of
replacing the headers, he puts the turbo on the y-pipe at the rear of the
engine. his website is <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.forcefedfab.com" target="_blank">www.forcefedfab.com</a> you should also check out
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.ststurbo.com" target="_blank">www.ststurbo.com</a> sts has a VERY different approach to turbos.

I don't know about that forcefedfab guy.
There are tons of spelling and grammar errors.
If I'm going to give someone $3K plus, they better be a professional company
or at least look like one.

Thats not much , so it should be easy to get .

FFF makes a kit for my firebird as a
 > complete bolt-on for $3000,

Buy it ... [ if it is a good kit with an intercooler ] for the hassle you
are going to go threw .. it aint worth the screwing around ..
On second thought [ and I checked out the page ] .. maybe you had better
wait to see real results of that "kit"... the tubes are painted ,,, so are
they stainless steel or just crappy steel, the welds are pretty bad [ no
offence to the fabber , I know how hard it was when I first started out ]
....
Mild steel tubes will not last .
Also I could not make out where the exhaust was going after the turbo .. is
it going "under" the K member , if it is, how much ground clearance do you
lose, I really do not like to see tubes that low, if they hit something [
and they will eventually ] you will tear the system up pretty bad .
If you are putting this on a late model car ,I am assuming this is your
daily driver .. so do it right.. "cheap" is rarely right.

i thought about finding some used or cheaper
 > priced parts that he uses in the kit

And end up with "used and cheaper parts"....
And if you have a problem ... not much if any support .
But as I have already stated , I looked at the sight , the quality parts
"are" the new parts.

and just buying the pipes from him. i'm
 > not sure if he will sell just the pipes though. His kit is neat, instead
of

Hey, thats my machine shop name [ STS ] ... but I am in Canada ..
"Performance improvements" up here used a friends 69 Mustang for a two page
spread that I did the twin turbo system on , it is their advertizement
tech/info mag they put out bi monthly, they also used his sons supercharged
350 - 70 Nova, a very clean pro street car .
That Mustang is the car that has the motorsport stainless [ cheaper grade
400 series stainless, but working fine ] headers on it .
Like I have said all along, if you want quality and the system to last call
Duttweiller or a "reputable" shop with " a good history" .., if you are
going to cheap out then you deserve the crap and hassles you "are" going to
get .
Unless you are a fabber of some sort, then get your feet wet with someone
elses quality stuff and " ENJOY IT".., then down the road if you want to
delve into fabbing something yourself .. go for it -with the knowledge you
will most certainly gain from your first kit.
Good luck either way.
Dave.
