No oil pressure to head

Thanks for the reply,

The engine (L4) is rebuilt with about 5000 miles on it, I checked all
the push-rods and rockers and they were clear. Popped off the lifter
galley cover buy haven't pulled any lifters yet.

This started when I over revved it in a sharp left hand turn, probably
starving the engine of oil. There's definatly no sludge in there, so
I'm guessing burn up lifters or a clog in the galley... is there an
easy way to clear out the galley. One that doesn't require pulling
the engine?

There is no easy way to clean out the oil gallery. The fact you have
oil pressure to the gallery (oil sender just below and feeds off of)
still makes me think the lifters, pushrods, and rockers are not
passing the oil. If the oil gallery were plugged, the engine would be
starving the hydraulic lifters and you would certainly be hearing
that.

The lifters supply the oil to the rockers via the pushrods. I would
start looking at the rocker cups (pushrod hole) and pushrods for
scratchy marks and deformed pushrod ends also with scratchy marks. If
all looks polished and shiney then pull the lifters. If you go and
replace the lifters, buy new push rods and very carefully inspect the
rockers, not only for wear in the pivots but also in the pushrod
seats. If the rockers are not getting oil, they and the pushrods
will be scratched and worn.

After all that, I went out to the shop to look at the oiling system
for the 2.5. in the Helm's manual at 2 in the morning. From the
sump, to the oil pump, then the filter, then the oil gallery, then it
splits off to the cam and crank. Off of the cam it goes someplace
less that clear. The lifters are right on the oil gallery and should
be getting a full load of oil.

There's one more thing I forgot to mention, I found this problem
looking for an awful ticking noise. I've been asuming that it was the
lifters. I went ahead and pulled them this morning, they seemed to
have pleanty of oil around them and the galley. Too bad there isn't a
way to spin up the oil pump without turning the engine. Going to
replace the lifters and rods when I get paid again, I'll keep you
posted.
