The Claeys plant and the South Bend Chocolate plant were, last I knew,
located very close to each other in the area by Covaleski Stadium, just a
short walk from the former Studebaker Administration Building and the old
train station. At least that's where I remember them. Heck, they both
could have moved and I wouldn't know it. I don't drive down that
infrequently traveled street very often.
I'd say the South Bend Chocolate Co.'s most famous product is the "Domer".
Some sort of chocolate named after the "Golden Dome". I can't even tell you
what that is, but I think every kid in the area learns about Chocolate
Charlie pretty early on.
