One quick question. If you are planning on buying a huge 3/4 ton pickup
with 4WD and if you want the HEMI, it looks like you intend to romp on it as
well so why are you concerned about the mileage? Common sense says it's
going to suck.

At a sedate pace of 70 mph, my best so far is around 18.5, but that's
a 2wd. The hemi's home is definitely the highway. As for in town
mileage, get out your wallet.

My 2003 Ram 2500HD with a 5.7 Hemi Magnum get's about 14MPG on the road,
about 8 MPG towing my 5th wheeler and about 12 MPH with a superchips tuner
high preformance program installed. I don't have 4 wheel drive, so yours
will be less. You don't buy a dodge for gas mileage, you buy a dodge yo eat
cheby's and fords. It will do that easily.

This has been covered recently. Did you bother to look back?
Anyway the answer I posted last month was:
"I have a 2004 2500 with 5 speed manual and try to get every last bit
out of a gallon of gas. The hemi has other ideas.
In 7K miles, best ever tank was 14.7, average is around 13.
Low is 10 mpg pulling a 5,000 lb horse trailer.
Overall about 3 mpg worse than my old 97 Ram with a 318".

Mopaman: Apparently you are not aware of how easy it is to search a
news group for a topic. Would you like me to send you step-by step
instructions?

And apparently you are not aware what a news group is really all about.
Doubtful that any instructions in that area would benefit you.

Hey MopaMan, how well does that superchip program work? I read a
comparison review between five '03 trucks, and the Dodge was only the
third fastest, yet had the best handling (uh, ok). Supposedly the
Titan was the fastest in the quarter, go figure. So, would you say it
was worth the money?

Hmmm.... Jerry, New's group instructions by Woody?? Things have ben slow,
let's hear them. I'm sure we could all use a chuckle. Maybe after he shares
his instructions, he will permit you to share yours. I know that I have a
couple of instructions that Woody could benefit from.

Related question... Are all 2005 HEMI's featuring the 4-cyl switch on
Hwy to save gas? I know the Magnum features that option, but I wasn't
sure if they all did? It saves gas/increases milage for a friend of
mine that has a Magnum... Wondering if they were gonna sell the 3/4
ton with same option next year... Thanks<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: hemi mileage? |

According to the salespeople at one local dealership, truck engines
don't get the 4-cyl switch feature; it's only found on the cars.
