I have a 97 Avalon that is having problems starting. It has happened twice.
About two months a part. The car is completely dead when I go to start it.
The interior lights are not on. No sound at all. But if I jump it, the car
will start right up. I have put in a new battery, checked the alternator and
it is charging. The car runs fine in between the two times this has
happened.

Any ideas??

Thanks, Robin

This happened to me too, only it was THREE TIMES...the first time
it was a very old tired battery...then the next two times it was
defective NEW batteries!...the dealer (Canadian Tire Store)
replaced both on warranty.

I would look closely at the battery cables connection.

I'm hearing of other cases like yours in other makes of cars and trucks.
Turns out to be bad batteries right out of the box. Something is going
on at the battery factories like poor mfg processes and lack of a final
QC.

I also had a bad battery right out of the box, lasted about a week.
