gear box fault poss/ electical

my explorer is strugling 2 select the rite gear when it does change it
makes the car jump it select 1st an 2nd after that it cant make its mind
up the lights on dash keeps flashing the overdrive symbol and the 4x4 high
and low keeps flashing has any 1 got any ideas what this cud be ive been
told the front axle but iam not sure
