Regular gas. Definitely, regular gas.

I had a 92 V6 Camry and used premium all the time. I believe that the 92
(and before) 4 cylinder engines run on regular, but I am not sure about
that. Read the owners guide.

Some engines use regular only, and some newer engines (even V6) are designed
to run on various grades, with various degrees of horsepower. This is done
with electronic engine control which advances or retards the timing to avoid
engine knock. I don't know if the older Toyotas have this ability to use
different grades.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I've asked before, and it's a slim hope of finding information,
but let me ask one more time. As the newer V6's are designed to
run on the different grades of gasoline, does anyone know of a
test or study (including one done by yourself) that determined
the increase in acceleration or milage from each available octane
increase?

The last time, as I recall, the consensus was that mileage and
power didn't significantly increase, but there had been no
quantitative testing. A change in brands resulted in about as
much change as a change in octane.

If it nocks on regular you need a tune up, your performance gains will
not offset price for any milage increase. Regular is best they are
designed that way.

Recommended fuel is Super with 91 octane or higher. Required is 87
(government law). I own a 2002 Camry LE V6 and use Supreme all the time.
It's great on highways where power is need to pass.

It should run fine on regular (87 octane) unleaded. For increased
performance, use premium. If you can't tell the difference, might as
well run on regular. The choice is yours.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
