All,

I recently won an auction on eBay for ... you guessed it another bloody
transmission. It was a good price but between the price of the
transmission and shipping it's still a decent piece of change.

The seller was paid via PayPal two weeks ago Saturday, and they left
positive feedback, but the transmission still hasn't arrived. Saturday
I sent a note inquiring if there was a holdup and asking for a tracking
number, I've yet to get a response.

The seller is a "Power Seller" with over 1300 transactions and a 99.4%
positive rating, they are also located in Tennessee which had some tough
weather recently.

How long should I wait before doing anything more? Any suggestions on
where to go from here?

Thanks,

Jeff DeWitt

Jeff,

Go in on PayPal and enter a dispute. If the seller does not respond
within three days you will get your money back.

And do it NOW! IIRC you have only 30 days from the close of the auction to
initiate a dispute request or you're SOL.

Take a look in your current SDC roster and see if the seller is a
member of the club. If so, it should give a phone number... call
him... Maybe some emergency has happened at his end...

If you cannot get hold of him this way, and he is not returning
e-mails, I'd go the dispute route with eBay and PayPal.

Sometimes, especially if the seller has a good feedback rating, it's
best to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I bought a laptop last week and after payment was made, I lost contact
with the seller as several attempts to contact went unanswered. Today, I
recieved an email that the item was shipped when payment was received
and that I should get it on Wednesday.

Again, this seller had a 99% positive feedback rating and had been a
member of eBay since 2002.

Now, if I haven't received by Thursday, I will start to panic..

Been some awful weather in the midwest lately. Maybe that tranny got
tossed into a field somewhar...

The guy has an excellent feedback rating and has sold a bunch of stuff,
been a member of eBay since 1999 and he's a Studebaker guy (don't have a
copy of the roster so I don't know if he's in the club but he has
Studes), so I really do want to give him the benefit of the doubt.

They did have some REALLY nasty weather in Tennessee (tornadoes)... but
I just checked and he listed some items today, so he ought to be able to
answer my email!

Jeff, maybe you should contact the guy via eBay using the "contact seller" link on one of
his other auctions. He could have his SPAM filter set wrong, and may not be seeing your
e-mails.

Or use another e-mail address to try again.

If you file with PayPal that he is not responding and did not send you
the item you are putting any bad marks against him. You are giving
him time to respond and if he does not you get your money back.

In reading this I realize there is an error in my statement. I meant
to say that:

If you file with PayPal that he is not responding and did not send you
the item you are NOT putting any bad marks against him.

Thanks everyone, I finally heard from them. There was a medical problem
in the family and they promised the transmission would ship Saturday. I
checked with PayPal and you can file a dispute up to 45 days after payment.

I've asked them to give me the tracking number when they get it and
there will still be plenty of time to initiate a dispute if it comes to
that.

Thanks!

Yep, I read the directions and realized that. It seems like one of the
things that dispute function is for is situations exactly like this.
However it looks like things may be OK.

Thanks!
