More details would be helpful:

1) Is there a humming noise when the radio is off?
2) Is there a humming noise when the engine is off?
3) Is there a humming noise when the engine is on, but the vehicle is
not moving?
4) Is the humming noise better or worse when you are braking,
accelerating, turning, going at a particular speed, etc.?
5) What year and model vehicle are you talking about? And, how many
miles are on it?

Jeff

Tires are possible, one tire could be going bad with an internal
belt separation - rotate the tires and see if the sound moves or
changes. And have the tire shop look for odd bulges or wheels
suddenly going way out of balance.

Wind can do it - try rolling down one window at a time a few inches
and see if the sound changes. Ever see someone playing a Moonshine
Jug in a band? A bad weatherstrip around a door can turn the entire
passenger compartment or trunk into a big resonant chamber.

You can also get roof rack bars acting like a whistle - try taping
over holes slots and gaps in the bars, look for missing beauty plugs
over mounting screws, and see if you can plug the whistle hole.

See what makes the sound change - steady sound at all speeds above
40 Km/H? Does it vary with throttle? Or with engine or transmission
speed? If you shift out of OD and it goes away, it's something in the
powertrain.

If it's the rear end gears it will vary tone with speed, and get
louder as you accelerate hard and quieter on overrun, or vice versa.

More information is needed:

Please identify the vehicle. Is it a Hummer?

Is the radio playing when the humming begins?

Do you hear the humming noise when driving other vehicles?
