Very good looking, but I always thought the Stude sedans of this era
were better proportioned than the coupes.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
you just HAD to post that, didn't you? That's a car I would pay
ANYTHING to own, had I the money. It's black, it's a business coupe,
it's not a champion, and it's a '40. (I really would rather have a '41,
but it's close enough.)
That's physically painful to look at. Thanks a lot...

There was an old lady here in town that drove a green car like that up until
the early '80's when both she and the car disappeared. We presume she died
or went to a nursing home, never did hear where the car went.
When she was still driving, the manager of the body shop it went to a couple
times a year told me that she gave him instructions not to tell her kids she
had scraped a fender! >> Stay informed about: Best looking Studebaker ever? |

Had a deal like that here. A little old lady had a model A she bought new,
and drove well into the 80's. I had heard that the local F**d dealer had
made a deal with her... they would keep it running, when she could no longer
drive, or passed away, they would get the car.
As best as I could tell, she drove that car to the grocery store, and to the
dealer for service/repairs. I would see it at her home, the store, the
dealership, and points in between, very seldom anywhere else.
She finally passed on, and sure 'nuff, it showed up on the back lot at the
dealers. There it sat, going down hill. When he closed that lot, the car
went away. As far as I know, the dealer never did justice to the car. I
suspect he still owns it, and it's probably a barn fresh relic now. An
injustice to the little old lady, and the car, IMHO.

My favorite "look what someone drove to church" car was a '40 Lincoln
Zypher coupe. (May have been a bit earlier.)
That trunk was as big as a standard garage - but lovely to look at.
