go to www.contour.org, the web site for contour owners.. alot of good
technical answers there from people who LOVE the contour........ i have
a contour and a 2001 honda civic.. if you can get her a civic you would
probably do better.. after taking a test drive in one i cannot ever
think of getting a contour. and the other daughter who got the contour
is kinda mad that she did not get a honda.....

I have a 2000 SE Sport, V6, 5 speed. It's a great car. Very solid, stops and
handles very good. Mine is for sale, $7,300 has 31K miles on it. I can't
vouch for the lesser models or the 4 cylinder cars, but mine is a great car.

I also have a 2002 Cavalier and a 2003 V6 Mustang. The Contour is a better
car than they are. Much more comfortable, quieter, better visibility and so
on.

I have a 1997 Contour with V6 and 105,000 mi. Great car.

But this is a bad place to get a reasonable survey of people who have had
experiences with Contours.

Unfortunately, I don't know of a better place.

If your daughter is looking for a decent Ford Contour GL. Look for the
one that has lower milage than 83,000 miles. It would be much more reliable
to have a vehicle at low milages say, under 70,000 miles rather than high
milages. The Contour V6's are much more reliable and are great cars. The 4
Cylinder ones are not as reliable. I own a 2002 Ford Taurus SEL. It's a top
of the line Taurus and it's a GREAT car. However, you might want to consider
shopping for insurance and get the rate that suits your daughter best. Let
me tell you, the insurance rates on all Tauruses and Contours are about the
same.

Civic and Countour aren't in the same class. The Contour, in any trim, is a
much more substantial and comfortable vehicle. If you insist on a
comparison, it'd be Accord & Contour.
