> What is everyones opinion on the best rally manufacturer
This is not as straightforward a question as it might seem at first......
If you're asking who the best rally manufacturer is in terms of performance,
at this very moment in time it's probably a toss up between Peugeot and
Ford, for the 206 WRC and Focus 03 respectively. However, both cars are yet
to be proven in terms of reliability. The other problem is you won't get
your hands on one of these unless you either drive for the Peugeot or Ford
World Rally teams (if so, can I have an autograph please?) or have Bill
Gates' bank balance.
The Subaru Impreza WRC is just a little worse than the Peugeot 206 WRC and
Ford Focus 03 in terms of on track performance, but has been proven over the
years to be reliable. Unlike the Focus 03 and Peugeot 206 WRC, the
technology is available very freely, in so far as so long as your wallett is
big enough, you can get your hands on one, no problem. I'd go as far as
saying that Subaru have flooded the Rally market with Subaru Imprezas. The
Mitsubishi Lancer is similar to the Subaru Impreza in so far as it has been
proven over the years as a top end rally car which is reliable, but you'll
find it's a little pricier than the Impreza, and some people claim the
Impreza offers better performance.........but of course, this could depend
on how you tweak the car......
From a point of view of which manufacturer is the "best" to support, if such
a question can even be asked, Subaru and Mitsubishi seem to have plenty of
t-shirts, jackets, caps, model cars etc available to purchase at rally
shows........now all Mitsubishi need to do is to bother to enter a team into
next year's WRC!!!............memorabilia for other manufacturers seems
harder to find, though Peugeot have been getting their finger out of
late.........personally I'd love some Skoda gear but they just don't seem to
make any.......
Finally, from an ethical point of view, Ford, Peugeot, Volkswagen and
Mitsubishi all run yearly competitions aimed at promoting younger
drivers.........which can only be good for the sport.........<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
