There are thousands of automobiles for sale on ebay. Has anyone ever
had experience buying cars on ebay?

Also check out a new site: http://RideWithClass.com - See cars for
sale, sorted by category.

I recently purchased a 1979 VW beetle on ebay...I asked the seller
dozens of questions and I had the vehicle inspected by a private
company. I was more than disappointed when I picked up the vehicle
approximately 1 month later. The seller and the private company
failed to disclose a lot of information about the car.

That being said, I purchased a 2003 VW bug via e-bay several years ago
and more recently a Harley Road King. The transactions went smoothly
and the car/motorcycle were as described by the sellers. I guess the
bottom line is ask lots and lots of questions. When you think you
have asked everything that you can think of...think some more and ask
away.

The amount and quality of pictures a seller provides is a great
indication regarding how honest/forthcoming they are being about the
condition of the vehicle. Look for lots of detailed/up close
photographs. If the photos are all taken at a distance either insist
on close ups or stay away from that vehicle! In my case, the seller
took very few photographs (Cool and none of them were close up shots.
The private company provided me with approximately 50 photographs.
However, only one of the photos depicted the actual condition of that
particular area of the vehicle. I have no idea how a "reputable"
private inspection company missed over 50 areas with rust!

And the crumbiest thing about the internet is that no amount of
pictures can really tell you how well the vehicle runs. Good Luck
with your search and stay fairly local if at all possible!
