Hey all,

I'm looking into different trucks I can commute to work in. Buddy of mine
has an 05 reg cab 2wd 5.4 SWB and says he gets 20 mpg. I think he's
bullshitting. I need something that gets roughly that mileage though. Does
the V6 F150 get that well? does 4x4 take away that much from the Fords? (I
know it does on Chevys) Are there any major problem areas with this? Do the
new F series hold up or should I look elsewhere?

thanks

TB

If fuel economy is a concern for commuting to work, don't buy a full-size
half ton truck. Seriously. I had a V8 F-150 but wound up buying an Escort
for commuting. It's just not worth it.

The sticker on my '07 5.4 Flex fuel SuperCrew 4X4 says 19 for Highway. I ve
never had a vehicle where the sticker was "wrong".

I get 19 @ 65 MPH [EMPTY] so I'd say he could well get 20 out of a 2WD.
