A friend of mine works in a body shop, and they installed a lift at his
station. He doesn't work every Friday, so he's going to see if we can use
the lift his next Friday off.

Sounds good to me!

It sounds like your friend got an above-ground lift. You might want to let
the friend show you where to place the lifting arms so the car isn't
off-balance. Always support the vehicle with additional stands - they look
like very tall jack stands - if you are going to remove anything heavy from
the vehicle like the transmission or engine because the balance changes and
the car and fall off.

He's going to be there for sure.

And don't worry about me putting a car on a lift! I am so paranoid about
getting under a car, even on a lift, I take every precaution there is!

And, after seeing a new Corolla fall off the lift in Noho, you *bet* I pay
attention! (I can't remember what they removed, but it was something from
the front of the car that threw the weight distribution off...)

The car had been sold before I got there, so it wasn't just a loss for the
dealer. It was only a few months old! D'OH!!!
