Can any later model cross-flow heads be attached to a 1971 Ford
XY 6 cyl 250 engine block? Would this improve the fuel economy?
Appreciate any information. Mate of mine asked similar in another
Ford group with no replies.

I think the old casr iron heads differ from the alloy heads, the older cast
iron heads had non self adjusting tappets whereas the alloy heads have
hyraulic tappets. Also i think the head positioner pins differ as do the
special head bolts TTY bolts have a different thread. But check it out
first, i could be wrong.
