OTOH, if you want to get *really* creative, check out the
Aero-Electric Connection
http://www.aeroelectric.com/. Intended for
homebuilt aircraft construction, but lots of general background
material that could be used for cars as well. Downloadable stuff, a
book, and a mailing list.
For software, I've been using Orcad, but it's something like $20k.
You can get a pirated copy from
www.warezstore.com for about $30. On
the other hand, Smartdraw is about $200 retail, or $15 at the
warezstore, and way easier to get up to speed on than Orcad.
