I dunno, Bill. I remember hearing as a teenager many
moons ago that cars ran better on foggy nights because
the moist air gives a boost through a "steam engine"
effect in addition to the gasoline burn.

I have a friend today who insists that a few years ago
he saw and tested a contraption attached to a Vette that
gave a shot of misted air into the fuel mixture as it
entered the carburetor for the same reason with
measurable results.

I'm not saying it's true, but there might be something
to it. And I doubt one will get 50% better mileage
either. But on an intellectual level, this claim has
been around for many years.

BTW- Where did this initial post come from? I don't see
it in my "oldies been read" list. New Inventions website
is a generic inventions wanted site seeming to have no
connection to what this guy is promoting.

Actually this contraption generates Hydrogen gas which is sucked in
and burned with the gasoline. I have been looking into it myself for
about the past month as this idea seems to be getting bigger and
bigger over the past year. I do not know if it works but it does make
sence but also do not think it will give you 50% increase. As for the
foggy night effect I heard about that back around 1978 and did some
playing around with it back then but then lost intrest in it as I was
like 19 at the time. So if anyone has tried this Nitrogen injection
system and has any input I would be intrested in hearing about it.

Water is a non-compressable liquid, it would break the valves and pistons if
injected into the cylinders. That's why you don't try to run a motor with a
bad head gasket, it would damage the motor from the antifreeze(water) in the
cylinder.
Try it if you dont believe me. Put water in a glass and see if you can
compress it into a smaller space without breaking the glass, same effect it
has on a cylinder. unlike a gas that does compress, or combustable substance
that when compressed explodes into a gas. If you use electrolysis to
seperate the water into Hydrogen and Oxygen gasses you can burn water. This
is the theory behind the green cars and using a renewable fuel source. Check

Another story I read maybe 4 years ago, an egineer changed out the
valves to computer timing so he could use engine braking to compress
gas into a tank on the car. When you started back up the car would use
the compressed gas first. We all know that you use the most energy to
brake friction so why not use the cheapest sorce possible, the
compressed gas you just created. It moved the pistons just fine and
when it go low you turned back on the gas.

Now why this is not on the market yet I have no idea!!! I read it at
that shop getting an oil change.

Sound more than reasonable to me. I guess I should look for that on
the web and post it here, if i can find it ;-/

Yeah, see if you can find it. I'm not creating a picture
in my mind of what you are saying but it sounds interesting.

I know that you can blow the muffler off your car by
using the engine to slow the car down by shutting off
the key and coasting. When you then give it ignition,
there is a shitload of gas in the cylinders and when she
blows, you'll be leaving your exhaust system in the
road. Smile

Been there.

That's a carbureted trick, EFI won't (shouldn't) do that.

Also a car engine doesn't have the compression ratio to build up much
over 200psi, going to need a big tank to get very far on that.
