Hi-

My truck is going in for inspection soon. It has a few cracked lines on the
windshield, blamed on a cone from a pine tree. Will my truck pass vehicle
inspection?

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on what your inspection requirements are.

Depends on where you are (since you didn't say...), the rules, and
how picky the inspector is at interpreting the rules. AFAIK, at a
minimum they will fail you for cracks that are in the drivers
immediate field of vision that are large enough to interfere with your
view of the road - meaning if it's a single crack out near the edges,
or way off on the passenger side, it's OK.

(There are probably some states with a Zero Tolerance rule - and
that law was paid for by the Auto Glass industry lobby, naturally.)

And of course, nothing that affects both layers of glass, and
therefore compromises the structural integrity of the windshield.

Go get a copy of your State Vehicle Codes, it should all be spelled
out in that book in nauseating detail.
