anyone have the recommended tranny oil capacity for oil/filter change on a
2001 GMC Sierra 4x4 1500HD w/Auto tranny? Not listed in the owners manual
anywhere.

buy 6 quarts....

change the filter....

add 5 quarts......

crank the truck run the shifter up and down
through the gear pattern, slowly, a couple
times.

check the level...

fill to the mid section of the hash marks....

go for a drive around the neighborhood...

recheck the level.


unless........
you took a reeeelllleeeyyy long time to get
the pan back on, then yer guess is as good
as mine.

Boy was I happy to see a drain plug on the tranny pan...that is untill I
discovered the pan is buried and a royal pain in the a$$ to remove to get at
the filter.

Do you think we can sign a petition to make all automotive designers work as
car mechanics for 3 years prior being allowed to come up with shoe horn
designs for serviceability?
