I'm looking for a "bull bar" for my 07 Tacoma........the ones from Westin
look good........does anyone know if they are well made? EZ to install?
and most of all, no do they use all of the existing mounting holes w/o
drilling or modifications to the frame or brackets?

I had one on my 98 and it bolted on to the tow hook points. It depends on
what you mean by "well made." The quality was excellent however it offers NO
protection from anything. It is of the same gauge steel as nerf or "roll"
bars. It does offer a good place to mount lights since the stock "bumper"
is lame. Mine required NO modifications at all and went on in minutes. I
don't know if anything has changed to the '07.

The only way a grille guard would actually guard the grille is if
they have heavy steel back-braces through the grille, through the
radiator support, and back to the chassis to triangulate the mounting
- Effective, but that's a whole lotta custom work.

Any less, and it just folds back at the L brackets at the base.

the grill can be protected without bracing through the grill. But it does
require a substantial mount to the frame.

You could always go with an ARB but it costs a lot more than a safari bar.
However it does offer a lot more front end protection.
