Here's one for ya - I've been bitten with Powerstroke fever lately, and my
finances will grudge me a big boy toy; my plan was to shop for a nice
late-model F250 - F350 so I wouldn't have to eat the instant devaluation on
a brand-new vehicle. At a lot in a town not too far off that specializes in
late-model full-size trucks/diesels I drove a number of 2000 - 2002 diesel
Powerstrokes w/crew cabs (nice, nice, nice!) Now here's the kicker - on a
whim I took out a '02 F350 4X4 diesel crew cab DUALLY, and let me tell you,
it was the nicest ride of 'em all! I find this all a bit weird, because -
I've never even *considered* owning a dually (have no towing needs).
My truck would be a low-mileage weekend warrior (light hauling, fishing
trips).
I can buy any junker, but I'd LIKE a nice, smooth-riding truck.
Now tell me, am I crazy or what? Whatever truck I end up with will receive a
nice topper, so I can take the kids on comfy overnight trips, but how
(im)practical is a dually for that sort of thing? I guess what I really want
to hear from dually owners is - are these things trailworthy? Will they
handle semi- to moderately-rough roads to fishing/hunting destinations
comfortably? Will folks point and laugh at me?

I know they're big as all
get-out (this is a full-sized bed), and the turning radius isn't exactly
tight, but how about it (if you can't tell, I fell in love with this truck -
it's cherry, 67K miles, and I can pick it up for $23,900 or better.)?
