Does anyone know if the original Studebaker SS that Egbert had Brook Stevens
build survived and where it is today? I have the burning desire to find an
early Excalibur, yank the chevy engine and put an R2 in it. It would be cool
to build a clone Studebaker SS.

Yes it would, another fun car to build would be a scaled down Studebaker
Indy car (barely street legal), powered by a supercharged Champion engine.

Hi! Thre are a number of claimed early Excaliburs for sale in
Belgium. However with the current excahange rates they may not be
any real bargains for US buyers. But still. There is among those a
1965 with Paxton powered R2 . I try to copy the link.

http://www.yezzz.com/auctions/6195717.html

If the upper link does not work then type in to the lower one into
the slot after Treffwoord ( = search) the word "excalibur". Then
Click word " Zoek " That should show you the results.

The original R2 powered car #1 is owned by Alice Preston, owner and
operator of: Camelot Classics, near Milwaukee WI. They are the
Excalibur parts supplier.
Alice worked for Excalibur and in later years was the curator of Brook
Steven's Museum. They do have a website by the way, which should be
easy to find through Google. KK

Isn't that a Chevy engine with a blower, rather than an R2?

Thanks for the link.
That 65 is nice but I would say that the seller is a but high on the bhp.
450 bhp from a Stude 289 with Paxton I think is a tad high. <g>
