I've been doing some much needed work to my 62 Hawk, hoping to get it
ready for the October meet in AZ. My radiator had a slight leak so I
pulled it. I also replaced the carb., pulled the exhaust and intake
manifolds and had them ceramic coated. When I had all the accessories
off, I checked the main crank pulley and balancer for play. (String of
expletives here), pardon the language, but it was bad. When I started
to pull it, I found that it had only four of the six bolts installed
and torque had really hogged out the holes. I don't know if the two
missing bolts sheared and fell out, or if it was installed with only
four, but there was never a vibration or any indication that anything
was loose. In any case the pulley is scrap. The car has PS and AC.
Here is the dilemma: It is a three belt, aluminum pulley. My parts
book doesn't show it and so far, nobody that I have talked to has one,
or has seen one.

Pulley dimensions are: 2-5/8" wide, with largest OD at 7-3/8 dia. and
the two smaller at 6-5/8 dia. Does anyone have or know where I can get
one? Any other suggestions? I can fax a diagram of what I have, if
that will help.

That is definately NOT an original Studebaker setup. Perhaps someone had the pully fabricated, or
the installer of the AC used a "generic" pully- and only 4-of-6 of the bolts lined up.

An original Studebaker setup consists of : Hub, Balancer "plate", 1-3 steel pulleys, spacers between
the pulleys, a "lock plate" top be bent over one flat of the crank bolt, and finally- the 11/16 NF
crankbolt.

Just about any Stude vendor, or local enthusiast, could come up with a set of original-type pulleys.

I don't think so, that's a Avanti waterpump pulley.
