Archived from groups: alt>autos>toyota>camry (more info?)

Hi all:

My front passenger side Power Windows are operating erratically.
I press the up button and it shifts up then stops. I have to drive
around for a while doing the same thing to get it to go all the way up.

Its a 2001 toyota camry paid off and I consider myself pretty handy so
Id like to do this myself.

Is this a fuse problem, motor problem or window regulator problem?
I can get all these parts on ebay without problem.

Has anyone run into a similar problem?
What was the fault?
How long did it take to repair it?

Thanks

Not an expert opinion, by any means, but if the motor takes the window up a
little and quits, then more and quits again, it sounds like
1. a bad motor
or
2. an electrical fault that is intermittent, either caused by a faulty
switch on the door panel, or a break in the wiring.

Can you test the switch to see that it allows a continuous flow of
electricity to the motor? That's a start. You could try swapping the
switch with one on another window that you know works properly.
