Archived from groups: alt>autos>ford (more info?)

Hello everyone. My AutoXray scan tool is reporting three failed
Readiness Tests on my car (96 Cougar 3.8L V6). There are no trouble
codes set, none pending either. Occasionally I get a P1443, which is in
the evaporative emissions system. I didn't see info in my AlldataDIY
subscription that gives any guidance on this, nor have I found much info
online in general.

OBDMID $11 Fail TestID $02 0014 not >= 8052 0014 <= 7FAE Upstream Static
Shift - lean shift on HO2S11

OBDMID $21 Fail TestID $02 0000 not >= 8052 0000 <= 7FAE Upstream Static
Shift - rich shift on HO2S21

OBDMID $12 Fail TestID $41 FFB9 >= 0000 FFB9 not <= 0200 Delta Pressure
for Downstream DPFE Hose Test

There are no trouble codes set or pending. I suspect the first two fail
entries will require replacing O2 sensors, and the third may be a leaky
hose, a bad DPFE sensor, or maybe blockage in the pipe that ports
exhaust to the EGR valve.

All other readiness tests pass.

Any guidance is most appreciated!

Brad

No experience with that specific car/engine...closest is with a 99
Taurus 3.0 Duratec...however...

Sounds to me like an O2 sensor and a DPFE (and hose) replacement would
be in order.

O2 sensors can get crudded up and 'lazy' over time. They may not
respond as fast as the computer expects.
According to a Ford mech friend, the DPFE's are a frequent replacement
item for several issues (as it was on my Taurus)

Let us know how it goes!

Nice to see you did your research tho...
Not sure if alldata describes the actual tests or not.
