I recently saw a Myth Busters where they seemed to get more octane in their petrol by adding liquid Mothballls - it worked for them so I thought it would work for me.
It was a Friday night and I had about ten litres of fuel (Shell Optimax) so I went to Safeway and bought a bottle of naphalene flakes and put two caps full of them into to my tank - for the pursuit of scientific research - of course. I sort of consider this car expendable anyway.
BTW I have a mildly worked 250 X-Flow EFI in a mildly dented Stationwagon body.
Nothing much seemed to happen for around 10 minutes (I was going to the local airport to watch the drags and maybe have a go at a bit of bracket racing) then all of a sudden the engine roared to life and it sounded not far off a top fueler.
By the time I got to the strip - my car was revving around 1000 rpm higher than normal for the same amount of pedal as usual.
I got to the strip and was challenged for a run with a VN or VP HSV Statesman running a mild V8 - it sounded stock anyway - but who knows?
You had to picture this site a fully detailed pride and joy toy sitting next to my poor imitation of a straight six shopping hauler.
The light tree went to green and I hidn't even have to plant it - at about 1/3 pedal I was smoking them up and couldn't get grip for about half a second - he beat me off the line - anyway by the end of the quarter I had three car lengths on this V8.
It was great - even the cops who were watching could not help but cheer. I ran a 12.86 - in a 1.8 tonne car.
The poor guy in the HSV just looked shattered - I felt really sorry for him.
I had to replace my fuel filter today as it was full of what looked like milk (the naphalene) a week later - so I'm not recommending this to anyone and I probably going to have to get my injectors cleaned - but I just had to know for science sake.
