Oh no! It's an on-topic post!

Seriously, did someone have a come-to-Jesus meeting w/Kimi? Did the rumors
of being replaced by Nico Rossberg finally motivate him to earn his $35M
salary? Was it simply the wind-tunnel being out of commission that caused
their poor showing in N.Amerika? Whichever or whoever is responsible for
his miraculous turn-around, I say "thanx!".

He's settling in. I know it'll drive Mark crazy, but I think he'll be
fine. He did everything asked of him in both France and the UK. How
many times have we seen Michael pull out a win in similar situations?
Jump the leader at the stops after putting in solid in and out laps
after a fine stint.

I still don't think he'll win the DWC due to the stupid points system
unless Hammy DNFs at some point. Just like Michael, he'll rue his
Monaco mistake.

He's finally got his head sorted as far as the Bridgestone tyres are
concenerd - same as Alonso and one or two other ex-Michelin runners.

Expect the second half of the season to show who the real big dogs are in
each team....(Alonso, Kimi, Kubica & others)

Maybe that is part of it, but the main reason seems to be that Ferrari
finally cured the understeer that made the car unsuitable for Kimi's
driving.

Gary Anderson's latest technical column talks about that in some
detail. Front wheel covers and different shape of the front wing
seem to be the main factors.

I suppose Giorgio Piola did something similar in his column (published
in Autosprint, among others). He has a site, but the content there is
for press only:

Some estimates say that Kimi is receiving $51M .

That must have been a factor since the cure was aerodynamic. But it also
seems that it took some time for Ferrari and Kimi to become convinced that
there was a real problem which could not be solved with changes in the
setup or in the driving style.
