The 2003 Jim Clark Memorial Rally starts tomorrow at 7.30pm in Edinburgh,
Scotland. This rally serves as the 3rd round of the British Rally
Championship.......
........but the incredible news is, it will also officially serve as the next
round of both the Irish and Scottish championships, as well as the British
National Championship (like football league division one), the British
Historic Championship, the Ford Ka Challenge, Volkswagen Polo Challenge,
Peugeot 206 Super Cup and Mitsubishi Motors Evolution
Challenge..........NINE RALLIES FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!!!!!
After two rounds, the Championship is tied between last year's Champion,
Johnny Milner, who drives a Toyota Corrolla WRC, and Tapio Laukkanen of
Finland, who drives a Subaru Impreza WRC.......both drivers have a win and a
second place finish so far to their names and are tied on 27 points.........
......third in the championship is Welshman Gwyndaf Evans, who drives an MG
ZR Super 1600......a great achievement considering the vast number of WRC
cars competing in the British Open.........
.........but as mentioned before, these 3 guys won't have it all their own
way.......the Jim Clark also serves as the next round of the Irish Tarmac
Championship......the Irish drivers are all Tarmac experts, and may well
dominate the event........many people expect Irishman Andrew Nesbitt to
repeat the victory he won here last season.......Nesbitt currently drives a
Subaru Impreza WRC......
......18 year old Finnish sensation Jari-Matti Latvala will also be
competing, in the Ford Focus 02..........
In other news, Mark Higgins and Julian Reynolds won't be at the event as
previously reported, Higgins has withdrawn, presumably to pursue his bid for
success in the WRC Junior event, and Reynolds has blown the engine in his
Subaru Impreza WRC.......
