We've been shopping for a new car for 6 months and have narrowed it down
to either the Civic coupe or Versa SL with the cvt. Now, we're stuck 50
50. Any advice or comments would be GREATLY appreciated.

Oh and my 1973 Datsun 510 sedan (great car) got a recall notice in 1991
for the possibility of the seat failing and falling backwards.

I own the SL and have driven the Fit and Civic before buying. Have a
good friend who owns the new Civic so I've had a chance to compare more
than casually. The Fit is a smaller vehicle with much different
strengths and weaknesses than the SL. The Civic is a better vehicle to
compare to. It's not a black and white issue. List your priorities and
your answer will be pretty obvious. Each vehicle has a lot going for it
but they are quite different.
We love our SL, my friend loves his Civic and I have a neighbor who
loves her Fit. All good cars if you know what's important to you.

I had two of them, a 1970 and 1973.
I'd say a good car, but a very poor body that developed rust pits if
parked in the rain.
The metal was very thin and had manufacturing cracks that contained rust.
That's why you don't see them any more, the bodies rusted out long ago.

Obviously the function of each car meets your needs and price.

Now rent each for a few days and drive your normal routes.
If they are different to drive, you'll know which to buy.
