Willingness to buy an Avanti II just to get a set of Halibrands is testomonial
to how rare and desirable they are. They really belong on 63 and 64 model
cars.

The description said they were seven inches wide (for modern tires). I
didn't think the original Halibrands were that wide.

Yeah, like a '64 convertible? Smile

(wouldn't it look cool with Halibrands and a little racing stripe down
the hood?)

They have been talking about doing just that for 20 years. Dave T Bow
was close a few years back, but the deal fell through. Back than he was
shooting for $2000 a set retail in aluminum not the factory magnesium.

I'm not the first to do it, nor am I the only bidder after the
wheels. They would still have to be restored, and that won't be cheap.

Yes, nate like the Bonneville Daytona convertible.

I have a set on the R4 Avanti. If memory serves me correctly they are 6 and 1/2
inches wide.

Buy the kidney beans, do the stripe and tell them it's the car in the
old magazines. <g>
