Archived from groups: alt>autos>rolls-royce-bentley (more info?)

I am the proud owner of a 1981 Silver Spirit in excellent condition. The
vehicle runs great however I have one problem that I cannot seem to
resolve. I have a gasoline smell coming from the trunk of the vehicle.
The smell is stronger on the right side where the battery is located. I
have had all the fuel gaskets replaced but the smell still persists. Any
advice or from other Spirit owners ???

The cause might be, a faulty fuel pressure regulator. This regulator leaks fuel into the engine when it is off which causes an over rich condition when the engine is started.
