Archived from groups: alt>autos>gm>olds-cutlass (more info?)

I am new to this group and hopefully you can lend some help.

I have a 72 Cutlass Supreme. From the factory it was a chocolate brown, but
about 14 years ago I had it repainted to a fire engine red. The gentleman I
took it too was a family friend and has since past on. I remember him
telling me that he used a 71 (not 72) factory red.

The touch-up paint he left use has since gone sour so I am wondering if an
of you have an idea of where I might be able to procure 71 factory paint?

Thanks for your help.

Steve

Try this link to find the correct color you're looking for. Then find any
paint store(auto) and they can match it for you based upon the paint code.
Good luck!

Matador Red is the same in 1971 and 1972. There was no other "Oldsmobile"
red used those two years and it certainly isn't a "fire engine" red. After
14 years, whatever color it was painted has long since
oxidized/faded/changed and you'll never be able to exactly match it. Go to
an auto paint specialist and they should get you in the ballpark.

Good luck.
