FIA and Tires

What is it with the FIA and tires? Anyone else think that it's ridiculous
how they regulate tires so much?

Why do WRC teams have to use Pirelli and why aren't they allowed to use
run-flats?

A lot of the changes that have been done with the rules over the last
years is done to reduce cost. I hope more will be done to reduce cost,
which I belive will make the sport more interesting again, especialy
with better private teams being able to make it.

I hope there will be new rules regarding complexity and cost of
elements like gearboxes (most expensive part of the cars now) and
diff's. I overall complexity of the cars have to be reduced.
