Yes. It looks like it might have a Chevy bed with some other fenders
grafted on to it. The correct pickup bed for a '64 one-ton would be a
nine-foot "step-side" bed. It probably was a cab and chassis to which
someone added a bed. That was the story with the '60 one-tone 4WD I had
(now George Hamlin's wrecker). It was ordered as a cab and chassis and the
owner put an International bed on it.

There are some "funky" elements. The paint scheme, rear fender flairs, and
pipes throw things off, IMHO.
Still, if it had been around before Big G showed up, I think I could have
worked with it. <G>

I think it's a Jeep pick-up bed. Neat looking truck though....and he's
pretty proud of that radiator

I think it's a Stude bed. The horizontal seam, shape of the top edge of the
bed and stake pockets, ribs in the floor, all look very familiar.
Filling the rear of the bed and installing vertical tail lights is a common
modification. It looks like they just slid the bed back and added sheet
metal at the two front corners for the stacks to attach to. >> Stay informed about: Ebay One-Ton |

Stude bed,
Brand X tail lights put in end of rails.
Stude rear fenders..
But there's some other wheelwells grafted onto the Stude fenders.

The number on this truck is 8E-13-131 which I believe is incomplete as
the data plates used at the time went as far as to give ratios, brake
type, etc.
I'd like to know what configuration the truck was when built. I don't
know enough about trucks to speak intellegently sooooo, perhaps among
the collective wisdom out there lurks a truck guru that can/will crack
the code.

I didn't see the ad or the picture(s) and I am not a truck expert, but I will
take a step at it for you.
8E - leftover 1962, 1963 or 1964 model year,
13 - one ton,
131 - 131 inch wheelbase.

Close, but not right. "62s were 7Es, so it's a'63 or '64 V8 1 ton,
long wheelbase ( 131") It would have been the narrow bed, not the wide
bed like the Champs. ( 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton only)

Leftover 1962s, at the factory, were considered to be 8Es (and re-ID'ed), like
'63s and '64s. Reference: "Studebaker 1946-1966", Richard Langworth, page 178.
Of course a 1962 that was sold by the factory during the 1962 model year was a
7E.

Well perhaps that is so on the 1 ton and larger.. But there were
significant steering changes in the 8E Champs that do not appear to be
different on 'early' serial number ( ie renumbered '62) Champs.
Therefore I believe that did not occurred with 1/2 and 3/4 ton
trucks,, and was unaware that the larger trucks carried over from '62
as well. Early'64 Champs were often renumbered '63s.
