Hi,
I have an 05 Dakota. So far I like it a lot. One thing though. I would
like for the Fog Lights to stay on when I switch on the High Beams.
Currently they automatically switch off when I go to brights. I drive a
long way home on dark country roads and I can use they brighter lights along
with the fogs to look for deer and moose on the road. If anyone know how to
program the Fogs to stay on, I would appreciate it. Also, could it be an
electrical loading issue, pulling to much current if both the fogs and
brights are on?
Thanks,
James

A: Why would you need fog and high beams? do you own a white cane
with red tip?

B: there are kits available, but they probably void any warranty
problems with the electrical system...

C: Separate the fog lights from the system and put in a separate relay
and switch... then, when I drive by the other direction, you can
forget to dim your brights AND turn your fog lights off..

It would overload the lighting circuit if you did.

It would do no such thing.

Given that they're on completely separate circuits out of the IPM, I don't
think that would happen.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

It would so! I got the wiring diagram.

I've tried reading those wiring diagrams at every conceivable angle, and
they still confuse the heck out of me. It seems the circuit I'm looking
for always starts on one page, crosses over/under/through 20 other
circuits, and ends on another page.
Guess I should have stayed in that electronics course.

Mac, I understand where you are going with this, but I still don't
understand why the fogs are not allowed to be on with the high beams. When
facing on-coming traffic I know that if I see a car with fog lights on the
hi-beams are off. Fogs don't blind me when the low-beams are on at all. Why
would the fogs contribute to blinding me when the hi-beams are on? I don't
advocate driving with the fog lights on when they aren't necessary, but I
would use them myself under certain conditions that have nothing to do with
fog (or moose). I have personally designed a relay system to selectively
enable all of the lights to be on at the same time with only one additional
switch, but haven't had the time (or to be completely honest the desire) to
actually install this system and field test it on my truck. I've driven at
night in Alaska, and this would be a very effective "moose lights" solution
to an age old problem using the current lighting equipment, save some wiring
and a few relays. If anyone else wants to try it out for me, let me know and
I will send you a schematic. You are on your own if for any reason it causes
any damage to your truck or results in any legal difficulty.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
