Hi,
I used my parking brake yesterday (to put my winter tires on), after I
released the parking break the DRL light is still on and the front light (in
drl mode) won't open when the car is running, but open 100% when I turn the
switch on.
My parking break light is off.
Any ideas ?
Thanks. >> Stay informed about: DRL light on Accord 2003 |

THe DRL lamp is supposed to glow when you headlights are OFF. You
probably never noticed it before. Read your owner's manual for
clarification.

No,
The DRL Lamp is suppose to light up when the Daytime Running Lights are NOT
running, either when the parking brake is on, or there is a malfunction.
In Canada (I forgot to mention it) the headlights are allways on.
This is what's written in the users manual!!!

Here's the way all my Canadian Hondas work: When I just get in and
drive, the DRL lamp should glow, (on CR-V it's the high beam lamp)
reminding you that you are in DRL mode, which is high beams, with a
reduced output. Then you SWITCH your headlights ON, the DRL lamp should
go out. I got the idea that at night, if you forgot to turn your
headlights on (LIKE SO MANY EDMONTONIANS) you would see the DRL (or high
beam lamp) brightly lit and remember to turn on your main headlights.
Maybe your manual is worded a bit different, or the 2003 has a different
implementation then they did back in '97 & '01. I checked both
(Canadian) CR-V manuals. CR-V / Accord may be different too.
Watch out for goblins.

Hi Curly,
I got an Accord 86, Civic 92, Civic 98 and the last an Accord 2003.
They all worked the same... no DRL light on the dash.
My 2003 used to work this way up to last sunday, maybe it's my dashlight
that's been wrong all the time, but one thing I noticed, at the same that
the DRL light appeared on the dash, my headbeams stopped working in DRL mode
(dimmed) when the light switch is off..
My user manual is clear about this (I double checked), if there is a DRL
light on the dash, and the parking break is released, have the car checked.
The light is there (at least on my 2003 accord), to tell the DRL lights are
OFF, and there is a problem.
I was expecting clues on what to look for solution/repair before I send it
to the dealer and have costly repairs.
Thanks.

I forgot to tell, that the DRL light was because I had a faulty high beam
light.
I changed it and no more DRL light on the dash. and the high beams are
opened in the DRL mode 65% i guess (lights off).
