Car keeps stalling! 240

Hi, I have a Volvo 240GL, an 86.

Here's my issue... There is this rattling I'm hearing when I am idling
and when I slow down it stalls out.. I can restart the car and then
I'm fine.. But I'm just wondering if the idle needs to be adjusted or
of it's something else..

Any advice would be appreciated..

Probably two separate issues. The rattling is probably the heat shield
on the catalytic convertor; one of the spot welds has probably broken.
There are several possibilities for the stall problem and others can
discuss them more intelligently than I can.
