Post subject: Car noise

My car (1991 Accord LX) has been making loud noise when accelerating, but the noise stops when it reaches certain speed (say 50 mph). What could be causing the noise? Would it cost a lot to fix the car?

Thanks.

It would help if you could describe where the noise appears to come from,
and what it sounds like. eg is it a tinkling, and metalic banging, clicking,
crunching or exhaust noise... is the car manual or automatic?

The car is automatic. The noise seems to be under the hood, not sure how to describe the noise, it sounds like a noisy running washing machine.

Broken or crushed motor mounts?

Loose exhaust header (where it attaches to the manifold)?
