'87 DeVille. I'd like to add a CD player to the existing radio system.
Either underdash or remote mount. First: is this possible using the
existing system? The existing radio has a cassette player and graphic
equilizer. The cassette is pretty-much useless these days, since CDs
are the preferred medium. I do not want to change the radio, only add
the CD player and have the player input controlled by the radio.
Advice/help/info appreciated. Thank!

FWIW; I made an audio cassette adapter and now can operate my CD
player with the cars' radio system.....

Thumbs up for the intelligence, and the courage to delve into the spaghetti
bowl of wires under the dash! 'Been there connecting up a cell phone car
kit.

Don, thanks for the compliment, but making the adapter had nothing to do
with going under the dash and or dealing the wiring. I took an old
cassette apart and dumped all the innards. Made a 'long' coil from some
little-bitty copper wire and soldered a stereo input cable to the coil
ends then plugged the mini stereo plug into my player. Inserted the
cassette into the tape-deck and voila! Strauss was playing his tunes!
Believe me, no one was more surprised than I when the cd played thru the
car radio system! Of course I've since learned these adapters are sold
at $10 +/- at walgip/fries... I think I invented an invention that had
already been invented! lol

You're still on my hero list; just not in first place. <G>
