Well Mac, as your friend Larry calls you, I can see by your email exchange that the both of you are nice guys that just don't want anybody to discover it. Some things went wrong and there were some minor misrepresentations. A more tempered approach may have soothed the situation.
I am no classic car expert. However, I do price out everything I ever come across in this metropolis of cars. The price does not seem out of line with the car based upon the pictures. This is rare 44 year old automobile. You can still read the Studebaker name on the back!!! You can park a car for two months and have rat poop in the engine compartment. Did you expect them to detail it for you? If the cosmetics on this car were cleaned up it could be going for twice or more what you paid.
Next time you buy long distance, I suggest you do some research first on relative values and ask for some pictures ahead of time from every angle. Of course, it would be best if you could visit the agent, look at the car, and curse him out in person.
