Hey,
I've heard a bit about the driveline noise and stuff with the XR's and
have definitely noticed it in my BA XR8 ute, but today i noticed a new
noise.
Has anyone else heard a metallic scraping sound when changing back
down throught the gears, going 4th to 3rd, 3rd to 2nd, etc?
It's got nearly 13,000kmks on it, so 2k (or 1 month) more for it's
first service but it's a pretty bad sound and it only became audible
today.
So what do you guys think?
Thanks,
Grant. >> Stay informed about: BA XR manual gearbox problems? |

I have the same five speed in my V8 XT sedan. My car has 23,000 odd km. I
have to say other than the annoying driveline snatch I haven't heard any
metallic scraping sounds to date.

They do? Does not make sense as they sell very few of the 3V V8s and stuff
manual versions. I would have thought that the T5 was the same in the BA
regardless of whether it was a XT, XR or FPV.

Yep, T5 is in everything bar the XR8 and GT. XR6T got the same box as
the 220KW AU XR8, still a T5 but uprated internals and was at its max
torque loadings.
Box used in BA XR8/GT was the same as used in the stroker T series
AU's.
Of course, thats all changed now with the MKII BA which has adopted
the same 6 speeder as the Commodore SS for XR8/GT and turbo.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: BA XR manual gearbox problems? |
