I think I understand why the computers in the Prius may need to know
outside air temperature but can anyone give me a good reason why the
car feels the need to tell me? I far as I know there's nothing I can
do about it so why take up room on the display panel. What might be
more helpful is telling me what the temp is within the car..
Related issue, why the snow icon when it gets cold?
Thanks >> Stay informed about: Outside Air Temperature |

There's nothing you can do about it??? There's nothing you can do
about the passage of time, either, but the car has a clock. I,
personally, find it very helpful to know the outside temperature. >> Stay informed about: Outside Air Temperature |

I thought the same thing about displaying the inside temperature at first,
but then I realized that the inside temperature is whatever I set it to when
I'm using the automatic A/C mode (once stabilized, that is). It seems even
less useful to know what the inside temperature is when you are telling it
what temperature you want it to be! >> Stay informed about: Outside Air Temperature |

On numerous occasions I've turned off my climate control system in favor of
cooling/heating with outside air. Knowing the outside air temperature is
necessary to this value judgment. >> Stay informed about: Outside Air Temperature |

Think about it. You know nothing of me but you write that. Is it true? Is
it not? It doesn't matter because you write of something you can't possibly
know and you do so with great conviction. You are, therefore, a moron. >> Stay informed about: Outside Air Temperature |

Correct and the only additional item would be the humidity. But often my
climate options are:
1) AC - just the top vents. Cool air on the face allows warmer
temperature setting.
2) vents, no AC - this keeps the window open noise down making it easier
to listen to the radio
3) cycling AC, interior - keeps the windows from fogging in rain or high
humidity days
4) windows - when nothing good is on the radio or the outside smells are
so interesting
My personal taste is roughly 84 F. If it is warmer, windows only work if
at highway speeds. Once it reaches about 92 F., AC is pretty much
required or the heat becomes too fatiguing. But humidity and sun angles
have a lot to do with what works best.
