Archived from groups: alt>autos>alfa-romeo (more info?)

Just thought I would let you know:
Air bag warning light on, normally caused by moving front seats and normally
reset by moving seat. Didn't work this time. Went to Autolec in Talbot
Green, S Wales. Plugged in computer. 4 faults logged. 2 Front passenger
seat, reset OK. 1 Drivers seat, reset OK. 1 Passenger curtain air bag but
wouldn't reset. Traced wiring to yellow connector under flap in boot by rear
passenger light fitting access. Bent pins in male plug and reassembled,
fault cleared. Now all OK.
Had recently changed brake bulb on that side, coincidence!!!
Anyway, worth a check. Apparantly intermittent faults that clear themselves
switch off the warning light. If it happens regularily they cut out plug and
solder wires together. Rarely does the actual bag fail so they say, more
commonly it is the plug/socket.
Just thought I would let you guys know.
Happy Alfa motoring.
